Prairie Rose School Division - Invitation to Bid - Design - Build…
Description

The YSofAg campus building will be constructed on 76 acres of land owned by Prairie Rose School Division and is located along the Trans-Canada highway between Medicine Hat and Dunmore. The building will have an approximate 9,000 sq.ft footprint with an additional 4400 sq ft (approx.) of usable space on the second floor. The building design includes a commercial kitchen, a large animal health clinic, a botany lab, a mechanical systems shop as well as several classrooms. The successful Proponent will develop and implement a strategy to design and build a Centre according to the enclosed conceptional drawings. The geo-technical review and initial leveling / site-work has already been completed and has been included in this RFP set of documents The objectives of the YSofAg include:
- Create: Authentic Agricultural Learning Environments by including real-world, hands-on learning that mirrors the entire agricultural ecosystem
- Build: Pathways to Careers, Trades, and Postsecondary Education by building clear, supported and industry-aligned pathways into Alberta’s agricultural workforce
- Support: Innovation, Technology and Future Skills by equipping students for the digital, datadriven, future of agriculture
- Design: A Sustainable Model for Growth and Community Impact by designing long-term financial, operational and relevant programming to ensure generational success The YSofAg will be a fully authentic learning environment where students can build confidence, judgement, situational awareness and the ability to solve problems in a dynamic, real-word context. The design shall follow the intent of the enclosed concept drawings, in particular the architectural and civil layouts.
Score Reasoning
The opportunity is strictly for a 'Design-Build' construction project of a 13,400 sq. ft. physical school building/campus, which is outside our core competencies of toy manufacturing and digital software. While the program focuses on agriculture and innovation, the RFP seeks a general contractor and architectural firm for heavy construction, not educational materials or marketing platforms.
Bid Angle
We would position the 'Tooth Sleuth' kit or a custom agricultural plush as part of the student 'Agricultural Learning Environments' or use Jellybean's QR technology to digitize the botany and animal health labs for student engagement.
