Berwick Electric Commission Hydroelectric Plant Turbine Removal, Repair…

The Berwick Electric Commission of Berwick Electric Commission (BEC) is a municipal owned electric utility that provides electricity to over 1,600 customers in and to the south of the Berwick Electric Commission of Berwick proper. BEC owns and operates a hundred-year-old hydroelectrical facility that generates on average 4% of the utility’s overall energy load.
BEC is seeking proposals from qualified contractors for the removal, repair and/or replacement of a damaged 31-inch (78.74mm) diameter Francis turbine at its hydroelectric plant at Factorydale, Kings County, NS. The wicket gates and the turbine vanes are severely damaged, and access is difficult. There will be an optional site visit organized for March 27, 2024, at 1:00 pm ADT. Attendance at this site visit is optional, but encouraged, for consideration for this work. BEC staff will be available at this visit and at critical junctures throughout the project.
